Hello Beloved!

When I'm scared I read Psalm 91. When I'm fearful I read Isaiah 12:2. When I'm intimidated I read Joshua 1:9. When I'm restless I read Psalm 116:7-9. When I'm overwhelmed I read Philippians 4:6-7. When I'm insecure I read 2 Corinthians 5:7. The list could go on . . . .

God's Word has become a source of strength, power and comfort for me. I have yet to face a battle that the Lord has not addressed in His Word. He knew life here would be challenging. He knew we would struggle. Even Jesus tells us in this world we will have trouble (John 16:33). However, one of the most important blessings He has bestowed upon us is His unfailing Word.

Many times we can overlook the Bible as just another book, as an obligation, or simply boring. But it's so much more. And if we don't take God's Word seriously we are forfeiting one of the biggest weapons we have in this dark world.

In this week’s video Bible Study, “Pick Up Your Sword”, I want to graciously encourage you in this area. Because as we’ll learn, if you put your weapon down, your enemy will be right there ready to pick it up and use it against you. Let's not let that happen.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for your unfailing Word. I pray that You would spark a passion in us to seek You through your Word like never before. Thank You for the peace, strength and life change that only your Word can bring. I love You. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen.

Let's keep this conversation going. Click on over to the blog and let me know, how do you make time to read God's Word consistently? And if you don't, what do you wish your time with God looked more like?

And one more quick question for you Beloved. Did you enjoy this week’s encouragement? If so, be sure to share it with a friend, you never know who might need some Beloved encouragement today.

Love ya,

Christina

P.S. Here are the scriptures I listed above, just in case you were wondering. :)

  • Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” - Psalm 91:1-2 NIV (But I encourage you to read this one in its entirety.)
  • Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.” - Isaiah 12:2. NIV
  • Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9. NIV
  • Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. For you, Lord, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living. - Psalm 116:7-9 NIV
  • Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
  • For we live by faith, not by sight. - 2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV

Hello Beloved!

Moses lead the Israelites out of Egyptian slavery and to the edge of the land promised to them; land filled with milk and honey. But after his death it would be Joshua's responsibility to actually lead the Israelites into that land. In Joshua chapter 1 God encourages him with these words:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9 NIV

God knew although it was a blessing to enter the Promised Land, it was also going to be intimidating, challenging and scary. So God reminds Joshua to be strong and courageous; not because conquering this land will be easy, but because whatever happens God promises to be with him.

One of the most disheartening feelings we can experience is loneliness. The feeling that we are doing this life all by ourselves. In this week's video Bible Study, "Feeling Forgotten", we look at how the enemy tried to tempt Jesus into thinking the Father had forgotten Him. And if you've ever faced a wilderness season or hardship you may have been tempted to think the same. But the truth is we are never alone. God is always with us and trusting that simple truth will provide the strength and courage we need to make it through.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for always being with me. Please help me to always trust that You are with me especially when life gets hard. I love You. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen.

Time for the after party! Click on over to the blog and let me know, what are some simple everyday experiences that remind you God is always with you?

If you enjoyed this week's encouragement be sure to share it with a friend, you never know who might need some Beloved encouragement today.

Love ya,

Christina

P.S. You know what would be fun? Getting all your girlfriends together to participate in the complete “Believing Better” video Bible Study series. Good thing for you it’s available for instant download here.

Hello Beloved!

Have you ever had that feeling like something was missing? I mean, everything is fine in your life but there’s this pull in your spirit that something is just off. That feeling where although your relationships are flourishing, your children are healthy, and your finances are steady; there’s still this feeling in your soul of well, emptiness.

I get that feeling every now and again. When I was younger I was not really sure what to make of those feelings. However, as I’ve grown in my relationship with the Lord over the years I know exactly what those feelings mean. Many times they are a reminder that the best life here on earth does not compare to the soul satisfying love we find in Jesus Christ. The perfect life is not enough. It never will be. In fact, it never was supposed to be. That emptiness and dissatisfaction with life is God’s call. It’s His reminder that He is the more we need and He is the only One who can truly fulfill us.

In this week’s video Bible Study, “Who Can Truly Satisfy?”, we discuss how nothing in this world can meet our need for God.  And as we look at the conversation between Jesus and the woman at the well, we learn that not only is God able to satisfy but is anxiously waiting to fulfill all our desires with good things. What’s on your heart today Beloved? I hope you find all that you need in Jesus Christ.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for providing all my needs and fulfilling my deepest need for You. I pray I continue to seek You for all my needs, satisfaction and fulfilment. You are able. I love You. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen.

It ain’t over yet Beloved, let’s keep this conversation going. Click on over to the blog and let me know, how has God helped to fill the voids you face in your life?

If you enjoyed this week's encouragement be sure to share it with a friend, you never know who might need some Beloved encouragement today.

Love always,

Christina

Hello Beloved!

I love Target. I enjoy cruising the aisles, pushing that big red cart and sipping on some Starbucks. Can I get an amen? And I don’t think I’ve even been to Target and left empty handed. I can always find some new gadget, outfit, toy or electronic that I just cannot leave without. Somehow Target has a great way of making me feel that buying their products will make my life better, more efficient and overall easier. And who doesn’t want their life to be easier?

But if there is one thing I’ve learned in my Christian walk, it is that easier does not always mean better. We run from pain, discomfort and challenges because they make us insecure and reveal our weaknesses. Still, easy is not always better. In her book “Life Interrupted” Priscilla Shirer says:

“But I’ve run into a problem. Because in running into what I though was better, safer, more pleasurable, more fulfilling, less painful, less complicated, or less confining, I’ve actually been running from God, from His will, and from His blessing.”

Ouch. Yeah, that one hurt me too. So in this week’s video Bible study, “Good, Better, Best”, we see that Jesus forfeits taking the easy way many times. Not because He just wanted a good challenge or had no control, but because in every case the easy way was not the best way. Jesus’ example reminds us that not even the good in this world is better than our God. Whatever you are struggling with today know this: God is always worth fighting for.

Dear Heavenly Father, no matter my struggle You are greater. I thank You for being with me always and I ask that You help me to keep my focus on You. You are worthy. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen.

So, let’s keep this conversation going Beloved. Click on over to the blog and let me know, have you ever tried to take the easy way out of a situation and it backfired? When life gets challenging what inspires you to stick it out with God and not take the easy way out? I can’t wait to read your responses.

With love,

Christina

Hello Beloved!

George Washington once said “To be prepared for war is one of the most effective means of preserving peace.” Now, I know no one likes war and if we had our choice we would choose not to go to battle, but as a woman of God do you realize war has already been waged against you? Do you know that if you are a Christian you are a target? The Bible tells us:

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” – 1 Peter 5:8 NIV

The enemy wants to devour your joy, your peace, your relationships and most certainly your faith in God. Now, I don’t tell you this to frighten you. I’m telling you because I also want you to know that Jesus has provided us with every spiritual weapon to overcome. We simply need to pick up those weapons and be prepared.

This week’s video Bible Study “Preparing for Enemy Attack” looks at the importance of preparation before battle. Every good athlete knows that how they practice greatly determines how they perform during competition. They know the work that they put in behind the scenes, the work that no one would pay to see, the effort that seems boring and no cares about is exactly what will determine if they will win or lose.

When you choose to spend a little extra time with God, when you choose not to sleep in and go to church, when you choose to wake up a little earlier to do a devotion; it greatly impacts how you will respond to spiritual attack. Let’s not wait until trials come before we decide to build up our spiritual muscle, let’s get prepared by starting today.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for your protection and power in my life. I pray that I constantly seek strength from You all the days of my life. I love You. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen.

Now, let’s keep this conversation going Beloved! Click on over to the blog and let me know, what’s the best way you have found to strengthen your relationship with God? What’s one thing you would like to do more of to strengthen that relationship?

As always, if you enjoyed this week's encouragement, like I hope you did, be sure to share it with a friend, you never know who might need some Beloved encouragement today.

Love,

Christina

P.S. If you believe this study would be great for your next Bible study or small group the complete “Believing Better” video study with PDF study guides can be downloaded here.
