Hello Beloved!

Jesus came on the scene and just turned the whole game upside down. Think about it. The Israelites were expecting this great king based on worldly standards and Jesus rolls up on a donkey (John 12:12-19). Then he's all like, the first shall be last and the last shall be first. (Matthew 20:16)

Then remember the whole forget what you heard about an eye for an eye and tooth for tooth. In fact, if someone slaps you, turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:38-39). I mean we're still processing that one 2000 years later.

So knowing that Jesus was such a game changer, it was of no surprise to me when I read some of the peculiar tactics Jesus uses to overcome being tempted in the wilderness. Mainly, right before he is to be tempted by Satan He fasts.

So you're about to go to war against your enemy and you decide not to strengthen yourself with food. In fact, you deprive yourself of it? Game. Changer.

In today's video Bible Study, "Preparing For Spiritual Battle", we take a closer look at the implications of Jesus fasting right before being tempted. We learn that physical weapons, no matter how great they are, will not help you in a spiritual battle.

If we want to win against these temptations and trials we are facing, we need less of our strength and more of God's. As you struggle and fight against temptation do not be discouraged if you find yourself weak, because that's exactly where God shows up the strongest. Because you know, that's what game changers do.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for your strength when I am weak. I can do so much more with You than on my own. Please help me to always seek You for strength, confidence and wisdom. I love You. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, amen.

Let's keep this conversation going Beloved. Click on over to the blog and let me know, have you ever experienced God show up with great strength when you felt weak? How did that experience grow your faith?

Sharing is caring! If you enjoyed this week's encouragement be sure to share it with a friend, you never know who might need some Beloved encouragement today.

You are loved,

Christina

Hello Beloved!

When unfortunate life circumstances occur we are often left with a lot of questions like: Why me? Why do I have to go through this? Did I do something to deserve this? And maybe the most popular: Is God mad at me? We have this thinking that if something bad happens to us it's because we've done something wrong and now God is mad at us. And that just spirals into a whole roller coaster of emotions. I mean, to walk around thinking God is mad at you only leaves you at best confused and insecure and at worse bitter and angry towards God; and probably everyone else too. Now if you've found yourself on this roller coaster I want to help you press the breaks and ease you off the crazy train with this truth: bad circumstances do not equal God being mad at you. Best example: Jesus Christ. He was perfect and completely loved by the Father, yet He lived a life of suffering and died one of the most gruesome deaths in history. Was God mad at Him? No.

After Jesus is baptized in Matthew chapter 3 the heavens open and the Holy Spirit ushers in the voice of God to proclaim to all Heaven and Earth that God is well pleased with His Son. And right after that Jesus is lead into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Because God was mad at Him? Absolutely not.

If you find yourself in the wilderness it's not because God is mad at you. Actually, in today's Bible Study, “Is God Mad At Me?”, we'll discuss that sometimes tests, trials and temptations become the greatest when we're doing something right. And those thoughts that God is mad at you? Don't buy it sister. It's just a trick from the enemy to wedge some distance and mistrust between you and God when you need God most.

If you ever have this feeling like you've done something wrong and God is displeased with you but you can't quite put your finger on it, I've learned you probably have not done anything wrong. God will convict you when you are wrong and help you in that area but He will not guilt you. Sometimes when we're mad at someone we won't tell them how they offended us yet stay angry and bitter waiting for them to figure out why. God's not like that. He will make it clear to you if He's displeased with any of your actions if you are sincerely seeking Him about it. I hope that truth and this week’s video Bible study is just the encouragement you needed today.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for your love and mercy that is like nothing else I know. I pray You help me to trust you during difficult times and not allow false thoughts about You to get in the way of our relationship. I love You. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen.

Let's keep this conversation going Beloved. Click on over to the blog and let me know, have you ever allowed the thought that God was mad at you bring distance between you and Him? How do you trust God's love towards you when life gets challenging?

If you enjoyed this week's encouragement be sure to share it with a friend, you never know who might need some Beloved encouragement today.

Much love,

Christina

Hello Beloved!

The more challenging our circumstances, the harder it is sometimes to live for Jesus. A lost job, a failing marriage, an emotional struggle, a seemingly impossible temptation. I like to call these situations wilderness seasons. Those periods in life where you just don’t think you will make it and where you feel you have already lost before you’ve even tried. I’ve been there. We all have. And Jesus has been there too. The Bible tells us He has been tested in every way (Hebrews 4:15). So Jesus is not surprised or even intimidated by the challenges you may be facing today.

In Matthew 4:1-11 we find Jesus in the wilderness tired, starving and being tempted by the devil himself. But Jesus makes it through this wilderness season victorious. Even more, He shows us how to be victorious in our wilderness seasons as well. Now I know what you’re thinking. Jesus was perfect so how can I possibly follow His lead? Well you’re right, Jesus is perfect but Jesus does not overcome the enemy in Matthew 4:1-11 by using any of His deity. Actually, He uses techniques and wisdom that we all can implement today for victorious living in Jesus Christ. See this wilderness season Jesus goes through was not to prove Himself greater than the enemy. It was to show us how to overcome regardless of our circumstances.

Jesus went through the wilderness for you, as a reminder that whatever you are going through, no matter how challenging, difficult or tempting; there is always victory in Jesus. We discuss all this and more in this week’s  Bible study  “Victory In The Wilderness” as part of our Believing Better series.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for sending Your Son to not only die for my sins but for showing me how to live in victory and not defeat. I love You. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen.

Let’s keep this conversation going Beloved. Click on over to the blog and let me know, are you in a wilderness season now? How is Jesus leading you through it? And if you’ve been in a wilderness season in the past, how did Jesus help you through it then?

If you enjoyed this week’s encouragement be sure to share it with a friend, you never know who might need some Beloved encouragement today.

Love always,

Christina

Hello Beloved!

Last year I sent out a survey to all our Beloved Women e-mail subscribers to get to know you better and find out how we, at Beloved Women, can best serve you. One question was:

What's the biggest challenge you face when it comes to investing in your relationship with God?

Here are a few of your responses:

"learning to spend time that's not mundane"

"So busy with day-to-day life"

"Reading Bible and spending quality time with God"

"Reading Bible regularly"

"Time management"

"Setting aside time to meet with God"

Notice the common denominator? Yep, time. We desire to spend quality time with God. Time well spent growing in our faith, uplifting our spirits, getting deeper in the Bible. And let's be honest. We also want that time to be exciting, interesting and dare I even say ... fun.

With that in mind this year we are continuing our weekly devotional e-mails directly to your inbox where we can chat about faith, God, purpose and even hair or eyelash extensions when necessary. And as you ladies know sometimes it is necessary. Like should I wear my hair curly or straight in my next video? I digress. You don't have to answer that question, unless of course you want to.

But in addition to our weekly encouraging emails, you will also receive a short video Bible study. And today we kick off a NEW video series called "Believing Better: Overcoming The Lies That Prevent You From Living Freely In Christ." Check out the promo video then meet me back here next week as we get started with this study. And you know, it’s always good to bring a friend ;)

It is my prayer that these devotions and video Bible studies will serve as a way for you to invest in your relationship with God in a fun and meaningful way. A way that has you expectant to meet back here each week as we learn, chat, and flourish . . . . . together.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for your presence. Thank You for the honor to speak to You in prayer and know that we are heard. Thank You for your Word that guides and comforts and grants wisdom. Please grant me the passion to never think of time with You as an obligation or a do-to item but as a privilege. I love You. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen.

Let's keep this conversation going Beloved. Click on over to the blog and let me know, which way do you enjoy spending time with God the most? Going to church, Bible study, personal study/reading, listening to Christian music or some other fun and exciting way? Let's brainstorm some ways to make the best of our time by spending it with our Lord.

And if you enjoyed this week's encouragement be sure to share it with a friend, you never know who might need some Beloved encouragement today.

Love,

Christina
